On the occasion of our 55th° anniversary, we share 10 stories of experiences that have positively “marked” the history of SAC Serigrafia.
We start with FIAT and the badge for the 150° anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
Year 2011.
Italy turns 150, and FIAT chooses to pay tribute to the country where it was born with a series of events and ideas.
From the creation of the FIAT Punto 150° to the desire to feature its models with a badge dedicated to the anniversary.
It is at this point in the story that SAC Serigrafia comes into play, as told by Paolo Santi, vice president of the company:
“For me, for us, it was an honor to be able to collaborate with such an important brand for Italy and for international Automotive. We presented our work, our products, our emblems, and they liked them. Everything started from there.”
Italy’s 150th anniversary decorative badge
Making FIAT cars dynamic testimonials of this historic anniversary.
This is the concept related to the commemorative badge for the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
The FIAT Style Center ‘s idea is a winner and very patriotic: the logo with the flag of Italy and the historic anniversary will be installed on the center pillar of the best-selling models-from the 500 to the Punto.
The badge graphic is ready.
All that remains is to add the added value of screen printing to the finished product, as Paolo Santi explains:
“We looked for solutions that would” ennoble “the Style Center’s graphic proposal, which is very clean and minimal. Hence the idea of the embossed effect for the lettering and the combination of shiny chrome finishes on the matte black background.”
High-thickness badge sampling is carried out.
The prototype is analyzed by FIAT’s Style Center and Quality Department.
We have the okay. We can leave, but we have to run!
Full throttle!
One of the essential requirements of the FIAT job order is speed.
In one month the first tranche of emblems must be delivered, a volume approaching 70,000. Everything must be ready for the fateful March 17, the start date of the festivities.
SAC Serigrafia’s machine kicks in and succeeds in reaching the goal on schedule.
But it is not over, production will continue until July, at a rate of 50,000 pieces per month.
A good challenge that Paolo Santi tells like this:
“The whole team worked very well and at a very impressive pace for several months. At the end of production, we celebrated with a cake that reproduced the very emblem of the 150°. A way for us to also pay tribute to our country and at the same time to celebrate this new milestone together.”
SAC Screen Printing and the Automotive
After the creation of the commemorative badge, the collaboration with FIAT continues with other interesting projects, such as customizations for various special fittings of the automaker.
Experience with FIAT has led to many results, enabling SAC Serigrafia to:
- Refine technical and operational skills
- To form a business network dedicated to the automotive industry
- apply immediately for ISO/TF (later IATF) certification achieved in September 2010.
The acquired know-how was then the gateway to new collaborations with other major Automotive brands including Renault, Dacia, Suzuki, Peugeot, Kia, Abarth, Subaru, Iveco, New Holland, and BMW.
