New installment of “10X55” – SAC Screen Printing’s 55 years in 10 cases!
Today’s story is set in 1988 at Palazzo Grassi and involves one of the world’s best-known Italian architects and designers-Gae Aulenti.

Late 1980s.
The renovation of Palazzo Grassi in Venice has been over for a few years, but the work of the renovation author continues.
In fact, Gae Aulenti takes charge of the layouts of the exhibitions held in the historic building, aiming for a very particular concept: to achieve perfect integration between architecture and art.
Here come the Phoenicians!
The opportunity to best express this concept comes through a unique artistic-cultural event.
We are talking about the first Phoenicians exhibition in Italy, which will be curated by Sabatino Moscati with installations by Gae Aulenti and Pier Luigi Cerri.
Palazzo Grassi will be transformed to give voice and image to the ancient people of the Mediterranean, through artifacts, sacred statuettes, objects of daily life… and the ideas of Gae Aulenti!
The versatility of artistic screen printing
For the set-up, the palace is planned to be decorated with screen prints on the wall with Phoenician graphics to which reproductions of ancient objects such as statues and coins will also be combined.
A mission to which SAC Screen Printing is ready to respond!
We are talking about a challenge but also a golden opportunity as our founder Bruno Santi reminds us:
“It’s easy to talk about 3D reproductions today, but back then it was still pure science fiction. So you could say that it was a really exciting project for us. A beautiful memory I carry with me is an afternoon when I assisted Gae Aulenti in printing an ostrich egg by holding her frame.”
SAC Screen Printing for Art
What to say. The exhibition has Palazzo Grassi will record an all-time attendance record for the time with about 750,000 visitors from all over the world.
What about the famous egg? Well, it is still on display today in the dedicated area of SAC Serigrafia’s Business Museum , along with the many “memorabilia” of our more than 50 years of activity.

For many years and to this day, SAC Serigrafia’s collaboration with major graphic studios for the screen printing reproduction of artistic works continues.
Among the “historians” include the likes of Emilio Vedova, Mario De Donà aka Eronda, Giuseppe Viola and Giulio Turcato.
