Behind every art print is the desire to enhance and characterize a space, an environment, a place.

Today we tell about a special project in which SAC Serigrafia had the pleasure of collaborating: the restoration of the Monumental Complex of Vangadizza Abbey, located in Badia Polesine (RO).

A place with a thousand-year history that now finds new life by hosting the Civic Library.
A beautiful project – signed by Studio Associato Vio Fassina (Architects Ettore and Giovanni Vio); executing firm: Ghiotti – that required a challenge from us , all handcrafted!

Cloister Abbey Vangadizza

An enhancement and storytelling project

The art prints made by SAC Serigrafia for the Abbey close what is an enhancement effort that began 20 years ago.

In particular, the latest restoration work involved the monastery’s former abbot’s apartment and the loggia of the 13th-century cloister.

For these very spaces, SAC Serigrafia made metal sheet prints to decorate the benches in the loggia, in addition to the display plaques that adorn the walls.

The goal of these decorative prints is to tell the story of the Abbey, particularly the period of World War I.

Artistic printing on sheet metal

A handcrafted art print

The making of art prints for Vangadizza Abbey can be described as “highly artisanal.”

In fact, the weight of large-format metal plates made printing by machinery impossible.

We have thus returned to the origins, to the traditions, to artistic printing done by hand, to those techniques where it is not technology but the human eye and hand that make the difference.

In other words, we aimed at enhancing the history of a thousand-year-old monument by bringing all our history and experience to bear!
